Printer Calibration

Why do I need a Calibrated Printer?

  • Removes Printer induced Colour Casts and other artifacts from your prints
  • Saves considerable expense in ink and paper by avoiding Test Prints

Printer Calibration Service

We provide a comprehensive Printer Calibration Service using our X-Rite (Gretag Macbeth) Spectrophotometer and associated ProfileMaker 5.0.10 Software. We can calibrate virtually all desktop printers whose drivers support ICC profiles; this includes most Ink-jet and Dye-Sub printers but not all Laser devices. For cost reasons Ink-jet printers are the most popular and are now producing true Photographic Quality when calibrated. Please note that an ICC Profile is required for each paper type, i.e. Archival Matt, Photo Glossy, Photo Lustre etc. Our Printer ICC profiles can be produced for both Apple Mac and PC computers. For this service we use the 360 patch (TC2.83 RGB i1) Test Chart.

Cost £30.00 per paper type. Currently VAT exempt. Site visit not essential, see below.

Enhanced Printer Calibration Service

Our normal printer calibration service uses the 360 patch (TC2.83 RGB i1) Test Chart, and this is more than adequate for most printers when printing in Colour, however if you have an Epson R2400, 3800, 4800 etc or Canon i9950, 4000 & 4500 printer that have additional colour inks, or you would like to improve your Monochrome printing with Colour Inks with any printer, then there would be definite advantages in using the 1100 patch (i1 TC 9.18) Testcharts in order to obtain the ultimate quality from your printer.

Cost £50.00 per paper type. Currently VAT exempt. Site visit not essential, see below.

Remote Printer Calibration Service

If you do not require a site visit for any other reason, we can Calibrate your Printer Remotely avoiding you unnecessary Travel Charges. Simply go to the Downloads Page of our web-site and download the appropriate Test Chart(s) and associated printing instructions. You need to use Test Chart (TC2.83 RGB i1) for our Standard Service or Test Charts (TC 9.18 RGB i1) sheets 1, 2 & 3 for our Enhanced Service. If we do not have printing instructions for your printer, please contact us and we will provide them for you.

Allow the print(s) to dry for 6 hours before posting to us together with a cheque made out to "Simon Clifford-Smith". We will e-mail the profile to you usually within 48 hours together with full installation and printing instructions etc.

Please note we cannot guarantee close correlation between your prints and screen unless we have calibrated your monitor.

Cost £30.00 per paper for our Standard Service or £50.00 per paper for Enhanced Service. Currently VAT exempt.
